Google Earth

As of about two years ago, access for Google Earth on Chrome has been freely available. As I’m a fairly big fan of the Chrome interface and its usability, this is another tick in the ‘things Chrome’s gotta have’ check-list. Oddly, even though the plugin’s been available for a couple of years, there are still plenty of folks that remain unaware. As I’ve already written a fairly lengthy overview of the Google earth software, I won’t bother going into the finer details. Suffice to say that once you’ve downloaded and installed the plugin, you can play around with the mapping software pretty much the same as if you plug into it direct.

The current version of the Google Earth plugin allows users to implant the GE software into their website. You can also (then) view the software directly from your browser, without having to exit and fire up the application from your desktop. This gives you the opportunity of viewing web sites that have GE installed as part of their site’s layout.
